Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will provide leadership in the field of child and adolescent mental health by integrating research, clinical practice, and teaching. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Centre specializes in the diagnosis and the treatment of disorders of emotion, cognition and/or behavior affecting children from infancy to age 18 years.
Clinical Services
Once a child or adolescent is accepted for services, a diagnostic assessment is conducted in order to understand that child’s strengths and areas of concern. Recommendations are carefully reviewed with the parent/legal guardian and the child. Recommendations may include one or more of the following services: Individual, family, group or medical therapy, parent consultation, school consultation, and/or psychological testing.
Services are selected to address specific treatment goals. Progress towards these goals are monitored closely and discussed with the parents or legal guardians. Our mental health specialists are committed to providing the highest quality of care to each child and family. We work closely with the child and their family, primary care provider, school personnel, and others to ensure that assessment and treatment are clinically appropriate and comprehensive.
